While running some "slug drills" for tactical shotgun, the action bar lock release on my 870 can prove to be a bit tricky to work quickly. I have only seen refernce to one oversized action bar lock release lever from Tank's Rifle Shop, but I can't find a picture of it. Anyone else make an extended or oversized action bar lock release? I'd like to see some pics and get some feedback on whether it is available and if it works.

Thanks

I have the Tank's unit on my 870 Wingmaster. I will try to post some picks of it for yu tonight. Over all I like it and find it much easier to opperate then the factory release.

Give Tank a call and he will either send you the part and you can install it, or send it in. I'm all thumbs.

I've heard that the FP6 is based to some degree off of the 870, and many features are very similar, including the location and style of the carrier release, which is an extended unit that seems to work quite well. Does anyone know how close the Fabarm is to the 870? Would it be possible to buy a fabarm release as a replacement part?

Here is a picture of the Fabarm release (actually a picture of the sling mount, but it does a pretty good job of showing the carrier release)

Edit: when I posted the link to the picture, I recognized the photo bucket account name as someone that posts here- badboybeeson, it looks as though you have some experience with the Fabarm, what's the chances that some of the parts would interchange with 870 parts?

Here you go:

Desert01, and others. Thanks for taking the time to attach some pics. Looks like the trigger guard mod is going to be using a dremel tool to open up the slot to accomodate the wider action bar lock.

If the Fab would work that would be cool as well, I just doubt other makes would drop right in....however if anyone has tried and and posts on it that would be a consideration. Barring that, I think I go with Tank.

Thanks again. Safe shooting..

Edit...I just got it..the third pic shows the cut out of the slot for the release....cool.

Although I am using a Wingmaster to build my SBS, this is the reason I prefer my Mossy 500. The release is in a natural place. I can keep my firing grip with my finger in register and still actuate the release with my middle finger.
