Is the Beretta A391 3.5" a kicker?

I am on the verge of buying a 12ga A391 magnum, but have a buddy who just bought one for a ring neck hunt to SD. Upon returning, he reported that the kick of that gun (shooting 3" shells) was the talk of the lodge. He's a big guy, but says his shoulder is still sore. He normally hunts with a Beretta o/u.
