Hi all new around here and to shotguns in general.
I saw this and it posed a question for me.

I once talked to a guy who tried to cut a 1187 or 1100 barrel
down to 18.5" and it exposed the gas tube.

I would like to have one like this to keep on my 1187
for home defense, but I have never seen one anywhere else.

Does anyone know where one can be obtained retail?

That looks like it is probably a factory barrel.
If you took an 1100 or 1187 and cut it down to 18" it would not expose the gas port. The gas port is at the barrel lug.
When a barrel is shortened they open up the gas port a little to compensate. Hope this helps.

Maybe a factory 1187 Special Purpose Barrel. Sights look to be Remingon.
