My references are apparently out dated when it comes to Italian marks. I hope someone can help.
I just picked up a 20ga., single shot, folding gun. It appears to have been made by a company or group named MAVI. Their logo has a double set of barrels, pointing at you above the name. It was apparently imported by J.L.Galef & Sons, but also has Eagle Arms stamped on it. I'm curious about age, choke, the maker, and value if someone wants to hazard a guess.
Serial #593**
Proofed for magnum loads
XX7, may be the date code, but my books mention only Roman numerals, starting with 1945 as I
AM76, date?
three stars ,encircled in a cog? my source says stars denote choke, but uncircled.
also has a 6 stamped on the flat
barrel wt. is kg 1.100
15.8 bore diameter?
proofed in gardone
stamped "Companion" on the action, followed by patent #'s
The barrel, around the chamber is octagonal, stock is blonde, relatively plain. Oh, vented rib. Single trigger :)
It seems to be a decently made little gun. I've plans to refinish the stock, don't care for the light color, nor the way the trigger shaped underlever brushes against the indent in the forend.I plan on enlarging that indent and touching up the checkering while refinishing.
Thanks in Advance,
Jim

Thanks Marland,
I'm certain that this is a $1000.00 gun! Just kiddin' :)
I didn't think it was worth much, I paid $130.00 for it, but I saw a past post where a guy was asking $300.00. I bought it because it was light, pointed well for me, and was a bit of a curiosity with the vented rib. I'm going to fix it up, seal it up, and use it for foul weather hunting. I don't like that full choke bit though. I might have it opened up a little or tubes installed. I know, it's not worth that much, but the combined cost of purchase and modification still makes for a decent little hunter. The single shot just makes it a bit of a challenge.
I'm still hoping that someone can give me a lead on more updated Italian gun mark info.
Jim
