I received a Model 37 serial number is 202xxx. It is a plain barrel marked full choke but has a polychoke on it. Is the Polychoke original ? What year was it made ? And is it worth anything?
I don't hunt anymore and was going to chop the barrel for a nightstand gun. But if it was all original i'll leave it alone.
Thanks a bunch

With a barrel marked Full, I doubt that the Polychoke was factory installed.

I would guess that Bushrod meant that if the choke has Polychoke written on it, it must be an original Polychoke in answer to your question: "Is the Polychoke original?".

I don't think that a Model 37 is a good home defense gun, the lifter system can sometimes drop the shell rather than lift it to be loaded. I would sell or trade it for a Rem 870 with 18" barrel.

Now if you do chop the barrel, cut it at 18.25 inches, to be sure that you do not go under 18 inches.
