what does the letter N stand for in the quality/grade area of gun and what is value ? gun in excellant original condition,purchased from original family :D

The Crass Model was the hammerless gun. In that serial number range the hammer gun was the New Ithaca Gun (NIG). Hammer gun grades were letters X, A, AA, B, C, D and E. We need to see several pictures to figure this out.

ok, my NIG 10 ga ithaca has an X over the 10.is this a standard, field, or higher grade?It has engraving on receiver and checkering on stock.Nitr powder steel on rib.excel. condition

X was the lowest grade. If it is an X-, A- or AA-Grade it doesn't have engraving on the receiver, that banner is roll-stamped on each side. the B-Grade which had Damascus barrels was the first to have engraving.

well,it does have engraving and checkered stock}all #s match} Im confused.again NITRO POWDER steel on rib.engraving surrounds "new ithaca gun" on receiver
