Does anyone know when this shotgun was made and/or the extimated value? It was purchased by a friend of mine @ a flea market.

All J. C. Higgins guns were low-dollar knockoffs of other famous makers;
Marlin, Savage, High Standard, Sako, Browning, Stevens, etc.
It would help to know the model number and by cross-reference find out the maker.
It could be a Marlin M55 copy which in 100% condition will bring $100......maybe. That's for the Marlin; the J. C. may bring a whole $75 in 100% condition.

They weren't knockoffs of Famous makers, they were made by Win. Rem. Sav. Marlin etc. with the Sears mame abnd ID number.. Bushrod
