Hi guys , I am new to the forum and I need some help. I picked up a sears roebuck jc higgins model 583.17 12 ga. bolt action shotgun today and there is a problem with the trigger and or the bolt. I can load it, fire it once and then ,when another shell is loaded into the chamber, the trigger jambs. This has something to do with the safety because it too malfunctions. If I take out the set screw and remove the bolt, then put it back in, its good for one more shot and then jambs again. Any help would be appreciated. Tony

Sounds as if the previous owner attempted some trigger work and over cut the sear.

Thanks Ron, I took it to a gunsmith today and he said the same thing. Left the gun with him and hope he will have it fixed next week. Tony 8)
