The whole Kawaguchiya/Nikko/Winchester/Olin gun maker question is one that comes up now and then but is very hard to nail down. About all that I can say about it is that there were several companies that made fair quality shotguns in Tochigi,Japan during the period of 1958-89 that were marketed around the world under many different names until Nikko made a deal with Olin-Winchester to make and sell their products. Many of these company's records were destroyed.

Thanks for your input A5, that's more than I knew before. Living way west of the Mississippi means that the $700 used Win101s and Citoris that are often mentioned on SGW are priced at $1000-1500 around here. I bumped into this trap style KFC and found it to be similar in fit and finish to a 101--but for far less $$$. Anyone have experience with one of these fixed choke Japanese guns?

I have a KFC skeet gun that one of my uncles shot for some years. It has never failed and is still a tight shooter that we use now and again. I am guessing that it has about 15,000 through it.

I have a KFC 12ga. SXS which is excellent. I did a little research and found that Kawaguchiya was the parent company of Miroku who as you know made Brownings and theit own line of shotguns. I think the quality of the gun you mentioned is every bit as good as a Citori .
