I just acquired a box of gun parts that includes a L.C. Smith receiver and barrels. I don't recall ever seeing one just like it. Both side plates have L.C. Smith with 1896 stamped under. On water table is serial 53006, F grade, Mar 29, 83. Barrels have matching serial number-F and what appears to be SB on each barrel. No other writing on barrels that i can find. Any information appreciated.

A few F grade Smith hammer guns have the 1896 date on the lockplate, and is likely in reference to the "New Model" of 1896 when the lock was changed from the Syracuse bar action to back action

Your gun was manufactured in 1897.
The 'SB' is what remains of 'SB&Co' for Sanderson Bros. who sourced the rough forged tubes from the Belgian maker.
