I am disassembling a LC Smith and the screw connecting the top lever post to the rotary bolt will only back out approximately one full turn and then bind. Upon inspection it appears that the end of the screw was prick punched or peened to upset the threads. Perhaps this was done to prevent the screw from backing out. Was this standard on assembly? And if so what method is used to remove the screw without stripping the threads? Thanks.

ALITTLE BIT OF TIME AND A SET OF NEEDLE FILES IF THE SCREW IS VISABLE, IF NOT BACK OUT AND RECHASE THREAD WITH THE PROPER TPI TAP.
