Good morning all, I am looking for light loads (3/4oz.) for the old style 20ga. AA hulls or (11/16oz.) for the old style 28ga. AA hulls. My father use to load some nice light 20 loads but never wrote the any of them down and took all the recipies to the grave with him. I know the last thing he was loading was a "hot" green dot load for "sporting clays" but I can not find the load listed ANYWHERE. Any help is appreated.

20ga AA old style hull
7/8 shot
16.2gr green dot (30 drops max 16.4gr, min 15.9gr)
CB 1078 (waa20 clone)
Win 209 primer

28ga AA old style hull (standard load from Win reloading data & Lyman reloading data)
3/4 shot
17gr HS-6 (win 540)
CB 1034 (waa28 clone)
Win 209 primer

I have 3k hulls of each or so and 10k Win 209 primers. Not looking for hunting loads just light skeet/5 stand loads.

Thanks
Mitchell

From the Hodgdon website: For Winchester AA hulls

Lead Shot 20 0.75 3/4 oz. Internat'l Win. 209 WAA20 12 10,100 PSI 1150
Lead Shot 20 0.75 3/4 oz. Internat'l Win. 209 WAA20 13 11,700 PSI 1200

I use a load right in between the 2 listed in old AA hulls and like it.

Check the Hodgdon website for variants.

I don't load 28 gauge.

The 20g green dot load you have listed is definately a little hot. Alliant's published 20g green dot load with your components calls for only 13gr. The 28 load you have listed is spot on when using ww540 powder. Droping your shot weight to 3/4 and 11/16 respectively using the 13gr of green dot and 17gr of 540 will work fine. May have to adjust the crimps a little.
