Good afternoon. I came across a good deal on a used Weatherby Orion made in Japan and I couldn’t pass it up. It’s a 12 gauge and I am trying to figure out which choke system it uses? Browning Invector?
Is that the bolt on the left when you open and close the gun? Mine has that too. I had never seen that before. It seems like a really nice gun. It felt very sturdy and well made. I have a Winchester 101 that was made in Japan and it’s a quality firearm. I saw this Weatherby for $600 and it didnt have any flaws so I offered $550 and they took it.My Weatherby Orion (Japan) is Serial # E007555, uses the original Browning Invector chokes, and has the signature SKB type cross-bolt breech mechanism.

That’s awesome. I really like how it mounted. It seemed neutral on the cast. I’m a lefty so I always have to mount and adjust but I just picked it up, mounted and it was right in my sight line. With that and the price tag I had to buy it. It definitely feels solid like a vault.Yes. You will be happy with it. Locks up like a vault. I bought mine (12ga, 30") 2 years ago when looking for a Browning CX. It was NIB and nice wood. Mounted well and looks great. I've got about 7,500+ rounds through it and it is doing great. I use SLIP 2000 EWG (extreme weapons grease) on all contact points (including chokes). Use it on all shotguns, rifles, and pistols. My Sig 1911 and FN slide like butter and don't collect trash. Buy it from Amazon along with Hoppes Barrel cleaner, and Rem lube spray.
I am rehabbing from a shoulder/Rotator injury (no surgery) since Jan 2022, so I have only shot 3 times (twice with my 20ga) because shooting high targets feels like somebody is sawing my shoulder with a dull knife. Haven't shot in 2 months, but have a tournament in 4 weeks.
