I have two of them and they are great. I also have the baretta 20 and it is great. The 1100 12 has some recoil but I am shooting it with just the hard plastic butt plate. I am sure that if you got one and had the butt plate removed and put a limb saver or Pacmyer (sp) on it you would not know its there. It is a bit on the heavy side but not to bad.
I am sure that if you went to a range you would probably find someone shooting one and they might just let you try it and see what happens.
Most 12 gauge 1100's feel a little muzzle heavy to me. I just add about 12 ounces of lead shot to the stock bolt hole and stuff paper in behind the lead shot. While this increases the overall weight, it actually makes the gun feel more lively and easier to maneuver. Recoil from an 1100 with a good recoil pad is quite mild.
