Does anyone know if it is possible to fix a cracked receiver on a 59 Win?

My father bought the gun new when he was pretty young and it has been broke for as long as I can rembember. He has purchased a new 59 about 6 years ago, but still has the old one.

Just didn't know if it was possible to fix the alloy receiver.

My father to had a 59 with a cracked reciever. He tried to have it soldered back together but the gun was never the same. I have kept it for parts but would love to breath life into the old gun if anyone can tell us how.
