Montefeltro vs ethos

So I am looking for a new trap skeet pheasant gun . In a 20 gauge I think.

My question is the ethos worth spending an extra 900 dollars on?? I just went and held them both. Both felt good can't decide

Not to me!
I've got a Montefeltro and am very satisfied with it.
And in 20gauge they are both the exact same weight
Aesthetics. There ain't squats worth of difference between them.

Slight differences.

The ethos has a carbon fiber rib and AA grade walnut. The Ethos also has an updated bolt that fixes the "click" issue that some people make a fuss about.

I have a 12ga Montefeltro and I like it enough that I'm wanting one in 20ga also. I prefer the steel rib and I believe the "click" is blown way out of proportion by gun writers.

My family has four montefeltros amongst us. Everyone loves them. No reason to switch from what's worked in our group

Yeah I am not sure I want to spend the extra 1000 on an ethos if it isn't really necessary

Get the gun that pleases you the most. Never mind the cost.
I have Montefeltros in both 12 and 20 gauge. i also have the field barrels and Sporting barrels for both guns. I have been using them since 2013, and between hunting and shooting clays probably have 25,000 rounds through the 12 gauge and 10,000 through the 20 gauge. I have never had a hiccup with either. the field barrels are a little shorter and lighter than the Sporting barrels and are great for bird hunting.

The Sporting barrels and longer, have the raised rib and are ported. This makes them great for 5 Stand and Sporting Clays. I recently used the Ethos Sport for a round of sporting clays. It was a beautiful gun. But it fit me the same, but was slightly lighter than the Montefeltro. I shot 2 rounds of 5 Stand to compare the 2 guns, using the same chokes (I used a Trulock Skeet choke in both guns) and the same 7.5 shot loads. 44/50 with the Montefeltro and 41/50 with the Ethos. Probably not a significant difference and mainly due to the difference in weight, I think.

My conclusion is that the Ethos is not worth the difference in price. I know all of these guns have gone up in price. When i bought my Montefeltros 10 years ago, I paid $850 each. Now I think they are around $1250. But the Ethos is a $2,000 gun. I'd save the money and buy the Monte.

Nice evaluation! I think the Ethos is too light for a serious clay target gun!
The newest motefeltros have updates no more click.

I have carried a 20 gu Montefeltro for several years. It’s been 100% reliable. I have always enjoyed the way it handles. I may experience it one day, but after 1000’s of shells no click. I suspect the new & improved version is just as good. Don’t have enough experience with an Ethos to comment. If I ever need to I would not hesitate to replace my Montefeltro with another.

Both are good guns but if you want the Ethos get it because if you don't you'll kick yourself and you'll probably end up buying one later on. I've been there and done that.
