Mossberg 590 Magazine Tube - Disassembly

In the interest of making the gun slightly smaller for storage I'm trying to remove the magazine tube from my 590. It *looks* like the magazine tube unscrews at the base, but as of yet I'm afriad to apply to much force to it in case it doesn't. Schematics for this gun are impossible to find and the manual is unusually silent on the matter. Is this something I'm not supposed to be messing with? Can it be done?

Okay, stupid #1: I forgot about the exploded parts diagram in the back of the Mossberg's manual. However, it does not explain in any detail how the mag tube comes off, merely that it does. Is that little shaded portion at the end of the tube supposed to be a fine thread? I can't tell...
