They may be trying to avoid the problems some of the others have had with the springs being stiff enough to handle the 3.5's then not wanting to cycle the light 2.75's.

SxS FYI most 3.5 autos have cycling problems with lite 2.75 rounds.
Just because its a 3.5 don't mean it will eat all 12g rounds. Most makers recommend 1 1/8oz loads or heavyer. But state the gun will cycle 2.75s in this range or above.
But Mossy don't even state the use of 2.75s :(
I'll bet that over bored barrel is a bit on loose side and does not have enough gas pres.or wad to barrel seal to cycle the action on lighter rounds.Man the thing is bored out to a 10g.They don't recommed shooting foster slugs because of the excessive clearance beteen barrel and slug.Remember you heard it here frist
But with a name like SxS you would not be expected to know this
When the rumor started about Mossys auto. I heard the 3.5 would be out frist.
Then the lighter 2.75"- 3" version. Will see :)
Don't get me wrong Mossys are a great gun for the $$$$
