My Charles Daly Field Hunter 12 gauge semi-auto had a major malfunction while hunting dove this morning   . The rocking block in the bolt assembly shattered into 6 pieces :x :x :x . If I had been shooting hot reloads this would have surprised me as much as it did, but I have been shooting factory Remington Dove loads. Even though I bought the gun before joining this forum and reading all of the negative press, you can still say I told you so because I had a chance to trade it in on a Browning O/U and didn't take it. ---AFG

Sent it to the black hole called KBI and 9 weeks or more you'll have it back!!!!
I pretty much gave up on mine and let freinds use it.And bought a SuperX2 for myself :D

Stopped at my local gun dealer and bought a demo model Beretta Blackwing(yes I went for the O/U finally) for $600 (good deal I thought) so I won't have to worry about the CD breaking when I need it most. I am going to send it off for repair and then keep it around for friends to shoot when they go to the range with me. It will never make another trip hunting because it can't be trusted.---AFG

Sorry to hear about you CD. I don't know why they even make a sub-standard product, when CD in the past was kinda known for thier quality and attention to detail! Well I guess that answers my question. I was kicking it around to buy an inexpensive semi-auto for the wife and my sons. I'll probably have to spend a little more for a 20 ga. 1100 or 11-87, but I guess you get what you pay for. right?

Charles Daly doesn't produce the guns they just import them. It is still possible to buy a very nice arm through them from great Italian, Spanish, and Japanese manufacturers. They also import lower quality guns made in places like Turkey.
