I've been looking at replacing my Dad's old 870 wingmaster (1965 2.75" chamber) with a new model to use specifically for duck/goose hunting. It's getting to the point I don't want to beat it up under waterfowling conditions as it's too sentimental to me. She'll still get out in the field for upland use so don't think it's going to be a safe queen.

I don't have a need for a 3.5" chamber, and honestly the new 870's feel a little clunky and rough in the action to me (Granted, after 42 years my Dad's old 870 is certainly broken in and smooth in comparison to the new models). I've looked at the new XCS waterfowl 870 but they're going for about $760 or more, which is more than I'd spend for an 870.

My question is, can I purchase a new 870 express (street price aroun $250-$300) and send it somewhere reputable to have the action polished as well as have the gun coated in some kind of coating to make it camo and inhibit corrosion?

Thanks for any info
