I recently acquired an Ithaca 37 that seems to be some kind of special production. I've looked on the Ithaca website, and can't find anything close to the serial number. The serial number is A17xx. The engraving on the receiver is an eagle holding a banner. Written on the banner are the words "Heritage" and "Pride". It has the old style "ringtail" foreend. Anybody out there know what it is and/or when it might have been made?

Ithaca put out several commeorative guns,so it would be hard to guess and my reference material doesn't list the inscriptions or what they were made for. Have you tried contacting Ithaca?

Thanks for the reply.

I found an e-mail address on the Ithaca website for their historian and contacted him. He turned out to be the curator of their museum. He says it's an Americana model, one of 2200 produced in 1970 as a promotion to dealers who placed special orders. NIB value (this one is in good shape but has seen some use) is about $800.00.
