Hey guys I'm in the market for a shotgun I'm looking for an o/u that is interchangeable between 12 and 20 gauge. price wise I'm looking to keep the setup under 1,000 new or used.. I've been looking at a few different models but I'm unsure of what is good or bad and I don't want to miss out.. I'm mainly a deer hunter but a buddy of mine took me out small game hunting and I'm hooked he told me to pick up a shotgun and we could head out and do some clay pigeon shooting also. so i'm looking for a gun that I can do both with.. thx in advance..

Welcome, Gladi8or - Best bet would be to start with a 12 ga gun that will shoot light 7/8 oz as well as standard 12 ga loads. You will have to decide on chamber and barrel length. As to whether the gun is a pump, semi-auto, over-under or side by side, that is totally a matter of what you like. Beginning with a used gun is also recommended.

While you will spend a lot of time and thought on what gun to get, the fit of the gun you buy will have more to do with how well you shoot than any other consideration. Visit Rollin Oswald's web site http://stockfitting.com/ and get a copy of his book, "Stock Fitting Secrets." It will be the best money you ever spent.

Then, if you have not already had rigorous training in gun safety, a visit to http://www.guntalk.tv/site.php would be a good idea. Sign up for their free basic membership and have a look at their safety video collection. Shoot Safe.
