New Stevens 411/IZH-43 Need Advice

I just bought a Stevens 411 and I have a couple of questions. First off, I believe this particular shotgun was imported in 2004. I just bought it brand new from CDNN. So it has been sitting around for almost 4 years. When I got it home I cleaned it real good, but I'm wondering if I should take the butt stock of and clean up the internals also. The other thing I am wondering is on refinishing the wood. I would prefer it a little darker. It has nice grain, but it almost looks blonde. I think if it was a little darker it would bring out the grain even more. I did a search, and I see that some members on this forum have refinished theirs. Any advice or pointers. I didn't spend a fortune on it, but I really don't want to screw it up either. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
