Norinco HP9-1 sights question

Hello :D

What sights are you recommending for the Norinco HP9-1, 14-inch shotgun?

It will probably fire between 20 and 40 metres and it is for home defence.

Thank you in advance.

Are you a LEO or carrying a federal tax stamp? you have a 14 '' barrel SG...anyway you didn't say whether the gun has any sight or not ,do you have a pic pls?
it matters not what type of shotgun it is. Sights are a personal preference thing. I share smile's concern that you possess a 14" barreled shotgun but perhaps you are not in the states. Either way a lot of people like the ghost ring sights. It allows an "in the mix" view point to combat. I believe the sights that are on that shotgun were ghost rings so if you'rs is like that then enjoy. I have riflesights on my 11-87 and honestly would prefer ghostring but. I'd say shoot it up, it's a shotgun. Will this weapon pull heavy duty action or just be used at the range and "IF" the random thug should wander into your home be used on him as well? Ghost ring sights are somewhat overkill for a home defense shotgun. All i'd want to spend money on for that situation would be a bead...unless you live in a gymnasium :p

That's not to say i wouldn't want ghostrings cuz i'm a doof like that and can validate spending lots of money on guns. None of my guns are "for home defense". They would be used thusly but that's not why i got them. I got them cuz meeeeee likey :D

If the Wiki link you posted is accurate, it comes with GRS on it.
The Wiki pic is a Norinco model 98 with a 18.5" barrel. The description of the HP9-1 says it has a 14" barrel and iron sights. That could mean rifle or ghost ring sights. He must be located in Canada where the 14" barrel shotguns are legal. To bad the Norinco HP9 is not legal to import into the US of A because I would love to have one.

Norinco's own web site shows the same picture, but I understand that doesn't make it right. The barrel does look long for a 14 incher. http://www.norincoequipment.cn/detail_p ... 34&cssid=1
It is the wrong pic because I own one like the one in the pic but mine has different fore-end. I would like to see a true pic of the 14" model.

I know people don't like them because they are made in China but they are very good Shotguns. The GRS on them are very good also, better that the ones that come on a Mossberg 590. The screws that hold the GRS on suck because they are flathead screws with sallow slots and they strip out easy and they will loosen under recoil. I replaced mine with hex head screws that are excellent. They sale for around $200 new, a good set of GRS will cost you at least half that.

Try this pic from a Canadian dealer: http://www.marstar.ca/gf-norinco/N870-14.00.shtm . They call is a N870 (aka HP9-1). It looks about right for a 14 incher.
That's it. It looks similar to the Wilson Combat Border Patrol 14" model. One of their +1 mag tubes will fit the 14" Norinco and give 5+1 on a 14" barrel shotgun. A good set of GRS would be nice on the 14" Norinco. That is what I would want on mine.

hi, what do u fellows think about a laser sight ?
The streamlight TLR2 has a built in laser under the light, and it will only cost you a little more than your gun.

I heard somewhere on here that the midget ninja launcher has come way down in price, but don't buy the cheap knockoffs they're just little kids dressed up like ninjas!!!

I wish I could have an SBR/SBS here but no Missouri can't trust BATFE's system of background checks to ensure the people are legal and trustworthy.
Are you saying that you cannot get the paperwork for an SBR/SBS in MO? I live in MO and was not aware of an issue. In what part of MO do you live? I aspire to include the multi-talented AR-15 into my arsenal when i get started with my new job and want several uppers ranging from a 24" bull down to a 11" operator.

That's what I was looking to do as well.

Mo law says NO ONE may be in possession of a short barreled rifle or shotgun and gives no excemption for the federal stamp. You would have to be a licensed dealer, not sure which class. You might check it out and make sure cause I'd love to be wrong on this one. I have a thread titled State Gun Laws where I have a link to the MO legislative pages on gun laws.

after all...anythings possible with bribing the government...
Well now that rocks and I just happen to live in Christian County now so I'll have to make a call or two. Thanks!
You bet brother. I hate to see the constitution completely ignored. The trampling it takes -that is the hoops we have to jump through and the pockets that must be lined- is bad enough.
Chessgator, get yourself a set of Scattergun Tech ghost ring sights. In Canada the cheapest place to get them is at www.tacord.com. He'll install them as well. Or you could kick it old skool and install a set of Remington rifle sights, that's what I want to do to my Remington 14" police barrel.
