Took the scull boat out today and we brought back 18 birds, including 2 Canada Geese, mostly ringneck drakes, a hoody hen (that will be added to a drake for a pair mount), some gadwalls, and a drake bufflehead.This was much better than the day before when the attempt on a pair of drake red breasted mergansers was botched by a fellow scull boater in his attempt at a goldeneye. Which he finally did manage to kill.Tomorrow for the last stab at ducks, back to the scaup in the am, some odds and end divers in the middle and a woody shoot in the pm.

I wish you the best of luck in being able to bag the ducks that you want. Sounds like you will be busy.

:smokin "I can raise kids and still kick your *** in clays"I drug in shortly after dark with a Taco Bell taco salad...ditched most of the cold layers of clothes, scarfed down the grub, and flopped on the couch. I intended to watch the superbowl....however, I vaguely recall the halftime thing and then again waking up at around 1:30am to drag myself to bed. I guess after 4 days of leaving before 5am wading, riding, and driving(over 500 miles just on my truck) in the pursuit of ducks, then coming back in after dark will wear on anybody....BUT, in 4 days we brought down over 60 ducks and geese, only losing 1 goose and a couple of ducks.I have never seen 2" thick ice on the TN river before so that was a treat, so was seeing bays frozen 3-400 yards out from the shore.All in all, considering the reports from others, we racked up. Had some friends from Montgomery and Ft. Payne come over and we hunted over by Scottsboro with them so there was a lot of ribbing when someone missed. We are already preparing for next year!!!

Well I must say I did take some kind of ribbing, but We did witness a miracle. A flying dead duck. There was no way that gimmmeee shot was a miss
686 is one of the guys from Montgomery that came up to take part in the festivities. Most of us shoot a bunch in the off season and are pretty fair wing shots, so missing, especially an easy-coming-straight at you within 20yds woody will get you a good dose of grief....all in good fun o'course. :rollin The only thing that was witnessed with that missed shot was you getting caught unawares and a woody slipping on by...:rolleyes , I even called out that there was one coming straight to him, he says that the train going by covered the sound of my voice. :\
