I have read some news previously this year that Remington would be entering into some manufacturing agreements with certain overseas manufacturers.
In this case it is with Zastrava, in Serbia, for rifles;

The reports I have read indicate that the intent is to use offshore products to fill in certain markets that Remington is not currently into, not replace products currently made in the U.S. facilities.
Time will tell how this is accepted and how it works out.
Even though I am not from the U.S., I am more "traditional" and to me, Remingtons are from Ilion NY (I know a few models are made elswhere in the U.S.). However, if this is a step that keeps them around to turn out 870's and 1100's etc. that I like, I guess I can get used to it.
