I have a old parker bros. 16 ***** double barrell shotgun I inherited from my grandfather. The only numbers I can find on the gun are the patent date which is march 26, 1878 and the serial number which starts 15 can anyone help with a model and value, thanks.

Giving us the first two digits of a serial number is no help. If you give the complete serial number someone with a copy of the Parker Bros. serialization book can look it up.

Go to the PGCA web site -- http://parkerguns.org/ and spend several hours reading and educating yourself, then come back here and post your questions, along with some good pictures of the gun, or do the same in the forums on the PGCA web site.

The information should be stamped into the metal of the underside/hidden areas of the gun, making removale of the forend & barrels necessary to inspect the barrel flats and action flats/watertable for the stampings thereon.

Also:
Hammergun ? or, Hammerless ?
Extractor ? or, Selective ejectors ?
Double triggers ?
Vaule = "Condition" - How much original factory finish remains on wood/metal ?, How much csae hardening colors remain on the action ?, and, What is it's mechanical operation condition, including any known defects like rust, dents, bulges, cracks, etc ?
