After reading JCA's post, I started looking for a Pedersen...

Here's a 1000 model for sale in London, too bad the dollar is doing SO poorly against the pound :( They are asking £825, which equates to over $1600....this one is nice, but I don't know if it's worth that much....

The 1000 barrels and receivers were built by Beretta, then they were custom fitted with stocks and hand engraved.

Has anybody ever tried importing a shotgun, how much does Uncle Sam take out of your hide???

we send stuff to a friend in scotland b/c of the dollar vs the lb. with the adjustment its like 2 $ to 1 bl or so. crazy.

ahh pedersen porn, smitty i had no clue to look overseas. just never dawned on me lol. the price really isnt that bad considering...

as far as importing ill have to look at my atf rule book, or you could call your local branch which would prob be better considering the state laws in your area.

looks like grade 2 and that engraving was all done at the pedersen factory. btw that is the best looking field ive seen... ever! 28" barrels sounds like you smitty.

Smitty, it's definitely your turn at bat! Jake's got a 1500 and 2500, I've got a 1500 on the way, and you've got ...? See what I mean. No way your wife can fight the logic that you're EXPECTED BY YOUR PEERS to acquire this shotgun.

Now you can send the money to me and I'll invest in pre-fab metal and wood structures; said structures just being in the form of a shotgun. I'll then send the shotgun to you as a "gift" for using me as your financial adviser.

No statements herein are to be taken as implying that the author has any qualifications whatsoever to advise anybody on anything, especially investments!

I contacted a firearms importer today.... their fee was $200-$250 then shipping which they estimate at another $250...plus, it's a 6 -16 week wait for the import permit...

That makes this one....a little less attractive.

I'll keep looking for one in the states....

But, that 1000 is the EXACT model I want.....
28" barrels are the EXACT barrel lengths I want.....
Ejectors.... I can go either way
Auto Safety.... I'd have to disable shortly after I bought it...

Sent an e-mail to the London Gun Room today, I've asked them how much of a deposit they want in order to hold the gun while the import paperwork comes in....

We shall see... I'm looking into another way of buying it, too.

I'll keep you posted...

Good luck Smitty! Just think, if Bush's "rebates" come through you can claim a boost to both the UK (gun) and US (importer) economies!

OK... E-mail from the store, says "no problem, just a small deposit and he'll hold the gun for me.

Now, he has put me in touch with the shipping company. We'll find out what "extra" licenses and such are needed from the UK side of the pond to get the gun back into the states...

Exchanged e-mails with the exporter today, fees, so far will be:

£1 GBP = $1.9515 USD (as of today)

Shotgun...................................£825....$1,609.99
Shipping to US.........................£175........$341.51
UK DTI export license...............£50..........$ 97.58
UK VAT & duties (4.5%).............................$92.21
Total with no U.S. import license..........$2,141.28

That's getting close to being more than I think I'm willng to pay.....hmmm....

The exporter is trying to find out if I need an US import permit because he says there is a loophole for guns with barrels longer than 28". Since the gun is 28" he doesn't know if it's exepmt or not. If it's not, then there is another expense...

Why can't these things ever be easy????

like buying your first house, or car. nothing has ever been easy, if it was you didnt earn it. you still right now under book. for a what looks to be a perfect gun outside the states, your deff going to pay. is it worth it... well for that you can buy a new so/so beretta, nothing nice though. forget eell grade unless used and lucky. i think its a bit stiff but for a perfect gun in the highest grade, thats is rare to begin with( 2-3 yr run on them) and across the pond to boot. well is it worth it? if i had the 2k + that is needed right now, id bought her yestereve! but im not normal either

Don't worry you're in good company....

I have some frequent flyer miles saved up from work.... I might go over and pick it up, that will save me a little, I won't have to pay for the shipping... I still have to do the export, UK DTI and VAT... I'll probably fill out the ATF forms tomorrow....

I'm glad I'm not normal either...

Smitty, the name was Pedersen Custom Guns. The actual plant was located behind the Mossberg plant. I may have the address in Vic and Cheryl Havlin's book, but it's at home and I'm at work. I'll look for it tonight, if Jake doesn't beat me to it!
