Please help. I would like to know what company made my shotgun. I know it was made in 1933. On the top of right baller is engraved ACCIATO KRUPP ESSEN. inthe center in gold letters is MALINO. on the left barrel is engraved PROVATO ALLA WALSRODE. It is a double barrel with hammers on the outside. The bottom of the stock os worn but I can make out the word bresica and all the rest is ???. A lot of engraving all over the metal parts. Quail on one side phesent on the other. Thanks a million. Tony

I think you need to remove the forend, take the barrels from the action and post all the marks found on the underside. If you don't know how to do this then do nothing so as not to injure the gun. These marks are called proof marks and will tell us the country of origin. May I ask how you know it was made in 1933?

I am not sure what language the inscriptions are in but my guess is Italian which fit with the proof house in Brescia. Looks like it has barrels made from Krupp Steel and was proved with Walsrode powder (which I might add is a turn of the century powder). Malino may be the maker.

Looks like you do have a Italian shotgun but I have no information on a maker by the name of Malino. I hope someone else can furnish you more information.

" 20.3 " is the diameter of the shell rim in millimeters
18.5 is the maximum bore diameter in millimeters
" crown fino crown" Final proof in the finished state (gun)
"psf 41" (polvere Senza Fumo) Shows the gun was proved for smokeless powder

I assume when you say crown you mean a star???
The barells are german made (their steel) and the gun Italian.
The proof marks are for guns made after 1950, though before that the system was quite similar.
The gun is safe to use with non magnum, smokeless (modern) shells.
WALSRODE is a german town where the barells were possibly made.
The 17. and 18 . are the barells choke and barell diameters.

are you sure about the Cal20.3???

1.490 is the weight of the barells in kg.

the 1933 is probably a serial number.

Look for any roman numerals on the guns barells and action I,IV, etc.

In Brescia there are/were so many gun makers its very difficult to identify guns from that region.

Crown would be right for a 1933 date.
Barrels were made in Essen where the Krupp factory was located.
WALSRODE was a common European (Germany) smokeless powder.

Is there a way I could email you an attachment of a sketch I made with all the above figures. Or maybe a digital pictures???????? . Can you determine a ballpark value of this gun. I plan on selling it. The serial # is engraved on the underside of the stock N35990 and the 1933 is stamped under the barrel it is in a engraved box. The crowns are shaped like a king or queen crown. They are not stars. I thank you Tony Spaich If this was a Model A Ford I would have all the answers .that I excell in.

Bear in mind that for unknown makers of brescia the main things determining the value is the condition and the engraving. The quality and quantity of engraving is very important to buyers.
