Please help shotgun identifacation

I have a old double barrel and it reads Carters Premier on
both sides of the gun and inside the forearm Pat May 12/9 7042.That's all I find on the gun. I believe the gun is made from demascus steel. HELP!

It sound like a gun that was rebranded for sale in a local shop in the 1900s.

If you post in the id forum you should get more details.

and...with damascus barells DONT fire the gun untill it gets inspected by a gunsmith.
