My father-inlaw has a Powell Model 7559 Double Barrel Shotgun. I can not find any information on this company or model? It appears quiet old. Any ideas?

Neither this forum or anyone else can tell you what you have, with the scant info you have posted. If you want to post all the letters, numbers and symbols found on the gun, inside and out, well try to help. Photos will help. You could have a William Powell and Son, >410 bore, sidelock, worth $20.000 or a P. Powell, 12 bore, worth $100.. Bushrod

"appears to be a 20 gauge side by side"

Are you guessing?
Do you have pics of the barrel flats and water table?
Is this gun for sale?

It appeas to me to be a 12 bore or possibly a tight choked 10 bore... There is more info on the gun than you're posting.. The proof marks are on the frame and the bottom of the barrel, where it rests on th frame.. this appears to be an English gun anmd thesemarks are important.. Also, mre lettering on the barrel rib..Bushrod
