To all,
I was looking at a Beretta Silver Pigeon for sale, but it was slightly different than anything I had seen or read about. Based on the date code (BI, I believe, the bottom of the barrel set was pretty rough) it was made in 1997. It has a wide top rib, no mid bead and the rib has a groove down the center, like a trough. The bluing on the top rib was worn almost the full length and it was wearing under the fore end and bottom barrel. The bottom of the receiver only says Silver Pigeon. The wood had significant handling marks and it has a slight RH cast. The barrels are Mobilchoke and the rib between the barrels is solid. the chokes included are flush chokes and I think they had three total. They are asking $1700 for it which I thought was high given the current pricing of the 686 SP Sporting and the gun's condition. Sorry, I was not able to take any pictures.
Is this gun something special or just an older 686. Any feedback appreciated.
Thanks,
JD
