I buy primed hulls from ballistics products, Fiocchi and Multi-hull.
I ordered some recently but a bog of a hundred came unprimed.
Local shops don't stock Fiocchi primers.
I tried seating a Federal 209 primer in the new unprimed hull and it seated o.k. Seated a little hard, and firm, but seat it did.
So is that going to cause me an issue?
Can I go ahead and use the 209 size primer in the Fiocchi hull?
I'm loading slugs'n buckshot and don't keep the spent hulls.
I roll crimp and the new hulls are pretty much 'once fire and throw away'.

Make sure your load recipe includes the primer that you are using. The Fed 209A is about the hottest one out there!

Thanks curly!
Got any idea hat would be very close to the Fiocchi primer.
Win 209?
What is the mildest igniter we an get locally without buying a thousand for just 100 hulls?
I have Federal, Winchester, and CCI shotshell 209 size.

I seriously doubt any problems using the W-209's as they are very near the same brisance as the Fio's, and certainly the CCI 209's would be milder than either of those.

I would not use the Federals without specific data for their use, as they are a very hot primer.
