Are Verona shotguns of higher quality than the Turkish shotguns? I've personaly have had bad a experience with a new Turkish made shotgun. I am looking at two models.. the LX680 and the LX692. They are both close to $1K. Who better to ask then the Verona lovers.. which one would more suit mass clay shooting.. i.e. Trap and sporting clays.. The volume of shooting is what I'm concerned about..

Thanx,
Sam

I have several posts in here concerning the volume of shooting through my Veronas and the quality of the guns. Through tonight I have 5787 rounds through my LX502 12 ga field gun--in 2005 alone. I have had the gun for almost 3 years and have put many thousands of rounds through it. After approx 11-12K I had a small burr wear up on part of the trigger assembly. I had this filed off and had the gun thoroughly inspected and cleaned by the gunsmith. He initially saw the gun the first week I bought it and knows how much I have shot it. He was amazed at how clean the gun was after all those rounds (probably at least a 1/3 of them reloads) AND that the internal parts showed no wear other than the very small burr.

Now, this is a field grade gun that I have customized to use for clay sports. By the end of this year this gun will have over 7K rounds through it--just in 2005. This has been my primary sporting clays and trap gun for nearly 3 years.

Frankly, given the recent assessment by my gunsmith of the quality of this gun given the work it has been put through--I would recommend Verona (or any FAIR) products to anyone for use in the field or on the range.

I also have a LX501 28 ga that has several thousand rounds through it and other than the occasional ejector sticking (caused by shooting reloaded, cheap European hulls) this gun has had no problems. I have had it 1 1/2 years.

These guns are built very well. One of my good friends has bought 2 Borwning sporting/trap guns in since I bouhgt my LX502. He shoots about 60% of the amount I do and both of these guns have had trouble that required repair. I am a Browning owner and love Browning--so I am not knocking them per se. I am only speaking from personal experience concerning a gun brand that I believe is similar in quality. I wouldn't begin to question the quality of the FAIR o/u shotgun. It has been proven over and over to me time and time again.

Samadam165,
I have not been on this site for some time. I happened to see your thread and I am answering your inquiry. Let me say this, I do not believe that you can find a finer gun for twice the money. I have three Veronas and they are indestructible. My 20ga. 501 I use for hunting. The 12ga. 501 I got a lx680 trap stock from Cress, and my wife uses this for doubles,(the 501 and the 680 are the same recievers) . My gun is the lx680 Gold Trap Combo. As of this present time I have put over 45,000 rounds through it and only needed to replace one firing pin. I just ordered another lx680 for myself so I can set it up for handicap. As you can surmise I am an avid trap shooter and let me say this, if you do what you are supposed to do the gun will do the rest.
Just my two cents,
Raymond :D :D :D

I have 2 LX 502's. Never had any trouble with mine. My 12ga is getting close to 4000 rds through it. Verona is/was the best value on the maket period.

I have seen KT's 28ga. It is one of the best looking guns I've seen. If there is a "06" Ohio open I just might bow down to the champ and maybe he'll let me shoot it

The bowing necessary is on the part of Hose!!!!!

Not, IF--there will be one--but when and where is up in the air. I am looking at a couple of clubs--one only about 90 minutes west of Pittsburgh--right off of Rt 70 (Hose--it would be easy to come down 77 for you guys). You will certainly be able to shoot my 28 gauge. I have been poping a lot of skeet with it lately--and no problems at all.

Bow???????? We are even KT, when you have more Opens under your belt, maybe (very doubtful, but maybe) then I will bow. Of course, I could just let you shoot a real Verona, and see if you can handle it??!!!!

Keep practicing KT........

Hose, I have a 1 & 2 finish for an average of 1.5.
You, on the other hand, have a 1 & 3 for an average of 2. So, yeah, give a little bow to the king!!!!

Howdy,

The two Veronas we own are our first O/U purchases. I've shot a few other makes that were owned by friends and they were good. We have a LX501 and a LX692G, both in 12ga.

But....while we don't have near as many rounds through either of ours as some of the other guys here, we haven't had a hitch with either. We are very pleased with the quality and just plain shootability of them.

I would definately buy Verona or FAIR again and hope someday to own a nifty little 20/28 combo.

Safe trails,
CKid

Might want to reconsider the fact that I put a HUGE whopping on your sorry butt in your BEST game (skeet) and on your home course to boot. I am still even buddy.

Actually, I don't shoot much skeet there because the targets aren't regulation. At the other club I belong to the targets are regulation and fly much faster and flatter than those that you shot. The round of skeet that my daughter shot there that day was the only round I have ever let her shoot there. It messes with my timing because the targets are slower and fly higher. They have a set of older traps in those houses and they really need to be replaced.
Furthermore, it was a one bird "victory" (which was shared with Moss9200). You need to come down to my other club (trap, 5 stand and skeet). We are setup to shoot international skeet there. I will take you out for a couple of rounds of that AND I will even pay--because I know I am going to get one big laugh out of it--so it will be dollars well spent.

Gee whiz, I log on here this morning and what is the first thing I notice--HOSE IS BACK!!! AND, he didn't get a deer.
I think I am glad he's back.

Hose, I am not above telling the occasional tall tale but I would feel a little uncomfortable going along in this little charade you are trying to pull off. Just let the numbers speak for themselves: My average is 1.5, yours is 2. No matter how you slice it--that makes me the reigning champ.

Yeah, sure I really like you. The other things...well...Hose, let's just let KGB and Hose, Sr. weigh in on those.
