The oil finish on the 690 wood is very durable compared to the 686. My 686 stock started showing opaque clouding spots fairly quickly due to facial perspiration and bug spray last summer. Shooting my 690 this summer that hasn't happened.
I've found Watco Rejuvenating Oil to be quite effective and easier to use than Tung oil. Lot's of products out there and many post on SW on the subject.
Wipe the metal down with silicon cloth and use a towel on the wood and you are good to go.
