Enjoy this forum, try to read everyday keep up the good work.

The load I'm presently using is Winchester 28ga AA hull, 13 gr powder, win wad, and 3/4 oz of shot. This is suppose to have a velocity of 1200 fps. My questions are if I want to slow it down 25 or 50 fps.
1. Is there any formula or ballpark number for how many less grains to how many less ft. per second?
2. Is there a safe place to start?
3. What are the dangers?
4. Can you tell when you're getting too light?
5. Should I just forget about it?

What I'm trying to see if my pattern improves or not.

James, Thanks for the help I will heed your caution.

I'm looking for the most even pattern with IC or MOD chokes with 7 ½ shot as I believe most of my hunting shots are 25yds. or less.

Right now I'm using the gun to shoot clays, but will use it for small game in the fall. The only shooting at paper was to find the point of impact and make adjustments. I have a couple of different loads between 1200 & 1250 fps and intend to try them through the different chokes to see what works best. I will load some at 1175 fps to see if noticeable difference. Thanks again.
