Thanks for the information. The seller claims barrel is 85% and receiver is 50%. Still worth $375? Also, any sense for when it was manufactured? Again, thanks for your feedback.

Again, thanks for your help. If you don't mind, I have a couple more questions.

I'm guessing that this piece has damascus barrels because of the manufacture date. I've read a little about that process and wonder if the gun will be safe to shoot with modern ammunition.

Also, I only plan to purchase only one shotgun (I've always liked the appearance of the sxs double barrel) and shoot it occasionally just for the experience. Would this be a good choice or should I be looking for something newer/different/etc.?

Your gun is not Damascus barreled, however it may have 2 1/2" chambers Hav a good smith check it out, If it has good bores and locks up tight, it should be ok. The .410 cal in 2 1/2" is available.. Bushrod

The patent date references the gun as a Stevens model 315/330. It is a G.S. Lewis design than utilizes inline strikers with coil springs. Ranger was Sears & Roebucks label. This design was sold 1915-1936.

At $375, it's better than money in the bank. You won't get hurt. In fact, you can probably make money on it any time you want.

Old thread but remember to flip a Ranger marked SxS over and check for screw(s) in the trigger plate. It might be a Hunter Arms Fultons. Turn the action over; if there is a screw in the trigger plate it's probably a Fulton.

 

May be an old thread, but a 3" chamber would give the option of both 2 1/2" (for skeet) and 3" shells (for more shot) if you want to hunt squirrels/quail/dove with it. Know the chamber length before buying!
