I have been offered a Ranger double barrel 410 shotgun for $375. I own several rifles, but this would be my first shotgun. The only markings I'm aware of are on the side of the receiver. It says Ranger (in script) and Pat. Apr. 20-1915. I have only seen pictures of the gun, without much detail.

The seller believes it came from Wards (he got it at an estate sale many years ago).

Is anyone familiar with this model and value? Thanks.

Again, thanks for your help. If you don't mind, I have a couple more questions.

I'm guessing that this piece has damascus barrels because of the manufacture date. I've read a little about that process and wonder if the gun will be safe to shoot with modern ammunition.

Also, I only plan to purchase only one shotgun (I've always liked the appearance of the sxs double barrel) and shoot it occasionally just for the experience. Would this be a good choice or should I be looking for something newer/different/etc.?

Your advice has been very helpful. I hope I can impose on you one more time.

Old thread but remember to flip a Ranger marked SxS over and check for screw(s) in the trigger plate. It might be a Hunter Arms Fultons. Turn the action over; if there is a screw in the trigger plate it's probably a Fulton.
