:D Hi all, want to get your thoughts on this. If a gun has the case colors worn off, could you use a product like Flitz to polish up the action to say perhaps more of a coin finish?

The gun in question is a SxS, don't really want to spend the $$ for recasing it.

Thanks as always!!!!

Flintz is probably too fine to take of the case colors. You'll need to use something more aggressive like 1200 grit wet/dry with a hard backing...and if there is any engraving you are at risk of f'ing it up.

After the wet dry it will be shiny metal (which will look terrible) and would need to be treated to give it that soft gray color.

Whatwever you do dont let any gun near a buffing wheel.

IMO a dull grey, naturally aged reviever with traces of case color is better looking than stripped and polished metal.
