I live ten minutes from the Busch Wildlife Area and want to start making skeet shooting a weekly thing. I have a Mec 650 and have found all the cheapest places for reloading supplies nearby. The only way I can save any more money is to shoot with reclaimed or homemade shot.

Ignoring any arguements people may have about the wisdom of using that sort of shot, does anyone in the area know of where I can get some? Buying shot at 17.50 a bag puts a reloaded box at $2.80. If reclaimed stuff is half retail, that would reduce the cost considerably, down to about $2.25 a box.

That would put me at 488 boxes away from saving enough money over Walmart shell prices to buy me a Citori!

I would apreciate any leads anyone has on some homemade or reclaimed shot.

Trap clubs are all I am aware of that reclaim shot, but when said club has enough to mine and plans are made for it, it is nearly always spoken for (clubs portion). Only thing I can suggest is calling trap clubs near and ask if they have any or intend to mine any in the near future.

I don't know a soul that makes as much lead as they need, it's an ongoing process of gathering/making/loading----I can't imagine anyone wanting to sell any they have made unless it was near the price of new.

Nothing wrong with reclaimed shot, especially for skeet..
