Send you stock back to Ken Rucker of Speedbump Stockworks in Texas and get a RAD installed. His turnaround time is fast and his work is awesome. The RAD is a smoother and better engineered device than the Gracoil.

just an opinion, don't let location determine where it's done---all you have to do is box the stock up [well protected] and send it. and only another opinion, if i moved to washington state i would still send it to ken rucker http://www.speedbumpstockworks.com/ and would choose a RAD first, counter coil second. do a search for ken or speedbump, many here are well pleased with the result of his time and effort.

A few answers on RAD Systems....First, the RAD reducers are highly engineered, hydraulic reduction systems. The hyraulic piston in them was designed to be a recoil reducer; not some off the shelf cylinder that was adapted to one. They have a large range of reduction capability and are as smooth as the legendary baby's butt. All adjustments are well designed and user friendly. I do both RAD and Gracoil installations; currently , I do 8-10 RADS for every 1 Gracoil, however!! Bobby Fowler, 2005 NSCA National Champion, uses the RAD exclusively in his guns. He can have any system he wants for FREE, so that should tell you something. Can they be installed in rifles?....YOU BET!! That was the 1st place they were used, and I have installed several of them in heavy recoiling calibers.
For some photos of these systems, please go to my website, http://www.speedbumpstockworks.com, and click on the gallery page. Just a little sidenote that I'm kinda proud of: SPEEDBUMP STOCKWORKS is currently the largest dealer/installer of RAD systems in the world!! And thanks, Scott and Steve, for your votes of confidence!!

If you are in Washington then I would recommend Emcee Stockworks in East Wenatchee. Mike does good work and installs several brands of recoil reducers. Give him a call 509 630-7206.

Well, I live in Washington (State) and I sent mine to Greg Hissem in Kansas (somewhere back east I think).

Most info I found was listing Rucker and Hissem as two of the better. I just picked Hissem after a nice e-mail response and some input from another local shooter (PhilE).

I went for the RAD II and an adj. comb for my monte-carlo stocked S686e X-trap combo. As a fairly new shooter I will try to determine how much difference I feel in recoil. My wifes 687 SPII X-trap combo goes in next for surgery, probably the RAD II.

Sera.... Thanks!! I can't get the SGW email to work , so I'll answer your question here. Sorry, I won't be at Cajun Elite. I had planned to go, but once again, the owners have placed vendor accomodations at the bottom of their priority list. I will be happy to do what you requested, however, at the earliest oppurtunity!! Will you be at the Angleport Open at Elm Fork?? I'll be there (as always)!!!!

So the verdict is to send your stock to Ken and get a RAD installed? I really really want to get a system installed in my 682 E combo when it gets here but my moms boyfriend doesnt think its necessary and I dont need it(hes a gunsmith, hooking it all up for me). I will be shooting as many tournys as I can and they are long trnys. You guys think its worth getting one installed?? How much does it cost to send a stock down to Texas and get one installed??

Several yrs ago I had Greg Hissem install a Gracoil unit which I've happy with. I've seen Rad units that Greg has installed and I might use them next time. Greg does excellent work, very reasonably and with a very good turn around time.

Ken is currently installing a RAD unit on a new Beretta stock he got for me for my 682 and I must say his service is outstanding. Great attitude and willingness to serve. Very knowledgeable too on anything that has to do with improving the stock on your gun.

What does it cost to have the RAD system installed on a Krieghoff? How much travel does it allow?

I've been using the same JS Air Cushion Stock for over 15 years with ZERO problems. Wouldn't be without it, but at it's current price of $1200, it ain't cheap.

Last summer I stumbled on a too-good-to-pass-up deal on a Winchester 101 Pigeon w/tubes & case.

I didn't want to spend $1200 on a recoil system for a $900  gun. At the time, Scott Hyde of Deer Park Washington had just posted an ad for his HPI recoil absorbing stock on SGW. At $295 with it's adjustable comb AND 3/4" of travel, it looked like it was worth a shot. I had Scott put one on the 101 (took 9 days door to door, and very easy to deal with), and I couldn't have been happier with his work and product. Very high quality hardware.

My son is shooting that gun now and loves it. I would not hesitate to put one on any high-end gun, especially if you need or want an adjustable comb.
