Estate target shells seem to be popular at my range and empties are always laying on the ground. I've reviewed many reloading manuals and sites and have yet to find any recipes specifically for these shells. Does anyone have any experience loading 1 oz 12 gauge of 7/8 20 gauge estate hulls?

According to Allinat Powder (Red Dot, Promo, etc) they can be loaded the same as the Federal Topguns with the paper basewad. There's data for them in the Alliant guide. They load up good for a couple of times then I toss them. I use them mainly for doubles.

The new ones are Federal hulls, the dark red ones. The older ones, are more orange, they are Cheddites. Both load exactly the same anyway. Yes, they load fine a few times anyway.

I use Federal 12SO's or the CB copy w/17.5grns. of Rex I for 1oz. loads in Estate hulls. Although other wads can be used the Estate hull is big and deep - Federal or Federal-type wads work best for gas seal and non-dished crimps.

You can sub Red Dot or Clays for the Rex I if it's not common to your area.
