We may have covered this before, but there seems to be a renewed interest in Poly's. This design choke was put on the market many years before the introduction of plastic wads. The shot and wads travel about 3" through the compensator cage before entering the choke. In most cases when using a choke tube tigher than Improved cylinder, the plastic wad opens enough to hit the steep side of the choke tube. Patterns seem to be patchy when this happens. If you reload hunting rounds for a Modified or Full choke Poly........do not use a plastic wad and go the copperplated or nickel plated shot. However if you are using the Skeet/Spreader or Improved Cylinder, plastic wads work great. If you need more help setting up hunting loads for the Poly, contact me.........Best Regards, James
