Remington 11-48 Friction Ring???

I recently acquired my grandfather's Remington 11-48 .410. It doesn't have a friction ring on it, but I'm wondering if one was even used on the .410s. I've read some of the posts about the friction rings on the larger gauge 11-48s and wonder if mine is missing or if it doesn't need one.

Thanks for any information that anyone can provide.

Hi David. The following is from the 11-48 owner's manual in a section about changing barrels, "be careful not to lose the friction piece (none in .410 Gauge) that is retained within the barrel guide ring."

Remington's website has a support section where you can request an owner's manual. They don't have a download for the 11-48 but they'll send you one if you ask.

870TB, thanks for the quick reply. I'll also request a manual from Remington. I've really been looking forward to shooting this gun, but have held off doing so until I knew that it was okay.

This forum is GREAT!

Glad I could help, David. I recently got my dad's 11-48 (he bought it new in 1954) and found the forum to be most helpful.

Enjoy the gun! I shot my first ever 25 straight at trap with that old 11-48.
