Remington 1100 16 gauge!!

Would like to hear from current 16 gauge users who hunt rabbit/upland birds. I currently hunt with either a 1100 12 gauge or Benelli Super 90 20 gauge. I am considering a 1100 16 gauge when they come out this year. I don't need it but like a woman with shoes' -A man can't never have too many shotguns. A message for Sporting Clay Girl, Let the hunters do the hunting, You stick to busting Clay!! [email protected]

Hey Beaglestace,If the shells were cheaper I'd use'm for dove hunting. Matter of fact I may take it out a couple of times next season just cause.Jay G. Shotgunworld.com
If the new crop of 16s actually weighed less than 12s then I'd be all over them. Ammo is not hard to come by and if it was I could always reload. If it weren't for the price of decent guns I would hunt a 16 and a 28 instead of a 12 and a 20. The 870 Express 28 wieghs less than the 20, but all the 16s they unveiled are the same weight as the 12g models they are built on. C'mon Remington, get a light contour barrel on something other than a 12 gauge.
That 1100 16ga. looks great, but it is built on the 12ga. frame, so you're not gaining much in weight savings, although recoil should be about nonexistent. I just bought a 16ga. sxs, and I'm really enjoying it. Hits like a 12, kicks like a 20 (depending on the load).

I have a 16 gauge model 1908 shotgun it is in great shape i was wondering what it was worth.
Taylor, toss a post in the Gun Value & ID forum and they will jump right on it.

I agree with the guy that hopes Remington would get it right. I bought one of the new 1100's. It;s like shooting a 12 ga with a smaller hole in the barrel. I do enjoy my Ithica 16 ga nad my Browning Citori 16 ga. They are made on true frames and are a delight to shoot.
Sometimes ammunition is hard to find in local stores. I usually order it several cases at a time. I found a shell I really like for the 16 ga. It's made by Nobel and I buy it from a wholesaler at www.gzanders.com. It's 1 1/16 oz at 1330 fps. It is a deadly bird load.
If you are looking for a good 16, I noticed that Traditions is comming out with an o/u called the "Real 16" Anxious to try it.
8) hey guys ,I need to swap a 16 ***** rem 1100 for a rem 870 20 *****,anybody interested in the memphis area?thanks chet

I just purchased a Remington 1100 (old style..no vent rib, modified barrel). Bought it used from a guy. It's in great shape. Took it home last night and gave it a good cleaning. I'm planning on using it tomorrow for the opener of the Utah Grouse season. I purchase a box of Federal 1 1/8 oz 6 shot from Sportsman's yesterday for $10.50...I little pricey, but hey you only live once...why not enjoy yourself. Besides, I've always loved the odd ball stuff. That's why I also own a 28 gauge shotgun(Franchi semi-auto). I'll take both on the hunt tomorrow. Probably trade off about mid-day. Gave $400 for the shotgun. Anyone know what they're going for used?
Thanks, Nantan2

That's great that you got an older 1100 16ga in outstanding shape. I bet you plan on carrying that Franchi 48AL 28ga in the afternoon portion of your hunt. Especially if you are walking a hilly area and it's warm out.
