I have a new Rem 100 and while dissambling, the piston/ piston seal assembly (one piece) came off. Can anyone tell me which way it goes back on the magazine tube? Flat end first or narrower end first?

I have an owner's manual and have cx'd Remington's website and the pix are not detailed enough to tell which way the assembly slides on.

flat side to the receiver. make sure the splits in the rings are not lined up.

My 1100 has a sticker right on the tube. Maybe Rem can send you one.

This is a shot of an 1100 20 gauge with the split pistons, but if you slip those two pistons together it looks just like the single piston of a 12 gauge. If that doesn't help ya, let us know and I'll post a shot of my 12 gauge with the single piston.

So, to answer your question, the large end goes into/onto the tube first...
