Somestimes shotguns that have seen hard and long use just need to be put to sleep. Sounds to me like you have one. When you start getting an 1100 rebuilt, in the long run it may be more economical just to replace it.
Especially if you have identified its successor. Don't understand why you think you would want a 'long tube' on a Special Field--what would the purpose be? That would be somewhat akin to putting an adjustable comb monte carlo stock on it--it is just not that gun.
I would not recommend trying to make the SF into something it is not. IMHO
