I've inherited a Remington Model 11 Sportsman 12 gauge from my father. It appears to be in great condition. I would like to know if there is a free resource on the internet to find out how to disassemble it for cleaning. Also, any tips on maintenance, such as lube or grease on the spring recoil assembly would be greatly appreciated.

Check Remington's web site - I think they have some info on their old/obsolete/discontinued guns, including the Model 11.

Also, check this out:

Go to www.duckhunter.net and choose the "Shooting-Reloading Forum" on the left side of the screen. The second topic is called "Lesson 2 the Browning A-5." This topic has a series of detailed instructions, inlcuding nice photos, of how to take apart and reassemble an A-5.

Since the A-5 and the Model 11 are essentially the same gun design-wise, this will probably help. I think the guy who posted that mentions some of the differences between the A-5 and the M-11, too. Pay attention to posts that deal with A-5s, because most of what you see there will apply to the M-11s also.

Ty's advice is right on the money. Good luck with the gun, Clayshooter. Let us know how you like it when you get it up and running.

Ty,
Thanks for the link and info, that's just what I needed. I got it cleaned up, and it was amazingly clean already. It's got a 30" barrel with fixed full choke. I added a slip-on limbsaver recoil pad and took off the butt plate. I plan on shooting a little trap with it tomorrow night just for fun.
Thanks again!

Hey,
Just thought I'd update. We shot the Model 11 this weekend and it worked like a charm. We shot 75 rounds throught it at 16 yard trap. My 14 year old son is intrigued by the desiign, compared to his Benelli Nova and had a blast shooting it. He hit 19 of 25 on his first try. There's something special knowing that his grandpa "God rest His soul" hunted pheasant and other critters with this gun.
Thanks again for the info.
