I just purchased a Renkin Brothers double barrel with a severally cracked stock at a consignment store was looking for any info/links that could help in identifying and assessing value
Renkin Freres (brothers) percussion MLs are not uncommon, obviously made for the English speaking market. Unfortunately there is not much information out there.
Renkin Brothers exhibited at the London Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations, 1851
Ancion-Renkin-Pirlot-Francotte, was established in Liège, 1854-1863 for the manufacture of Enfield rifles; Jules Ancion, Renkin Frères, Pirlot Frères and Auguste Francotte.
Picked up a Renkin Brothers 12 ga double barrel muzzleloader shotgun at a estate sale.it was made in Liege Belgium i was wondering if this gun very common and if it would of been considered a high or low end grade gun when it was made
AJD was likely the tube maker. I can't ID the initials
19.0 mm is the bore = .748" or about 11 bore.
The crowned inspector's mark was used 1853-1877
Unfortunately, your gun has been quite neglected and the inside of the barrels and locks (the L appears to be frozen) probably look worse than the outside of the gun. It is unusable and its value is as a wall hanger.
Jean Renkin established his gunmaking business in 1710, but I still can't find the relationship between Feres and Fils
