a little something about the Norinco SKS. Not all Norincos are the same. The ones that was made for the Chinese military (early imports with barrels threaded in to the receivers) are great guns. The ones that were made solely for export (pressed and pinned barrels) are junk. The early imported guns are harder to find.
I will agree and disagree.
While the later "commercial" varients are usually not as "pretty" they are still some of the more accurate SKS's you'll find.

Many of the SKS funshoots and postal matches we've done on another forum (all SKS's) have been won with chinese "pinned barrel" SKS's.

I would take a commercial chinese before a Yugo, anyday. At least the chrome lined bore of the norinco won't rust with the cheap "maypop" surplus ammo...like the non-chromed yugo will.

The only "real" SKS is a Ruskie, anyway.

That being said, I've looked over these Norinco Shotguns at a local shot and was not too impressed.
Rough, gritty action...forend looser than a Mossber Maverick...and a poorly parkerized finish. The "shroud" around the rear sight is very thin (with sharp edges) and the front sight is blocky and poorly machined.
For the $139 sale price they aren't too bad...but if I had to trust my life on one, I'd more than gladly pay the extra $$$ for a REAL 870. Better quality steel and more precise machining is worth the cost...IMHO.
