My uncle just gave me a shotgun that belonged to his father-in-law. It's a 16 ***** pump action. I've never heard of the manufacturer and am looking for information about this shotgun. The only markings it has are as follows;
Stamped on the barrel, Browning Patent 16GA Proof Tested.
On the receiver, Riverside Arms Co. Chicopee Falls Mass USA.
Just below the butt and behind the trigger are the numbers
6 8612 B.
I'm looking for the age of the shotgun and information about Riverside Arms.

Riverside Arms was a Trade name used by the J. Steven Arms Co. and probably dates somewhere in the 1930's.

Your shotgun was probably based on a model 67 or 620.

We've had several Riverside questions lately , click on "search" at the top of the page , type in Riverside and you should be able to get some pretty good info.
